Effect of Service Disciplines on Waiting Time in M/M/(1, n) Systems
نویسنده
چکیده
Performance tuning often involves consideration of adding another server to the system. Owing to changes in technology, the additional server may be of a service rate different from that of the existing servers. Moreover, with heterogeneous servers, consideration must be given to what service discipline should be employed. An analysis is provided of the effect on waiting time using two service disciplines (1) weighted-priority and (2) priority to the faster server. Examples of M/M/(1,1) and M/M/(1,2) systems are used to illustrate the effects, and a discussion of the results is presented.

Optimization of M G 1 Queue with Vacation (TECHNICAL NOTE)
This paper reports on the minimization of the average waiting time of the customers in the M/G/1 queue with vacation. Explicit formula for the unknown service parameter of a particular customer has been obtained by considering the exhaustive service discipline in the case of multi-user with unlimited service system. Moreover, results in case of partially gated and gated service disciplines unde...
متن کاملA Non-Preemptive Two-Class M/M/1 System with Prioritized Real-Time Jobs under Earliest-Deadline-First Policy
This paper introduces an analytical method for approximating the performance of a two-class priority M/M/1 system. The system is fully non-preemptive. More specifically, the prioritized class-1 jobs are real-time and served with the non-preemptive earliest-deadline-first (EDF) policy, but despite their priority cannot preempt any non real-time class-2 job. The waiting class-2 jobs can only be s...
متن کاملA single server perishable inventory system with N additional options for service
This article presents a perishable (s; S) inventory system under continuous review at a service facility in which a waiting hall for customers is of nite size M. The arrival instants of customers to the service station constitutes a Poisson process. The life time of each items is assumed to be exponential. All arriving customers demand the rst "essential" service, whereas only some of them dema...
متن کاملPerformance Evaluation and Improvement of Queuing System in Iran Khodro Agency, A Case Study
Today, in a competitive market, service organizations and producers have a great attention to optimization and customer satisfaction in order to become competitive. Service organization must reduce the number of arrival, waiting time and service time in the queue to increase the customer satisfaction. In this paper by the aim of queuing theory we analyze the optimal amount of increment in a rep...

This paper includes a simulation model built in order to predict the performance indicessuch aswaiting time by analyzing queue’s components in the real world under uncertain and subjective situation. The objective of this paper is to predict the waiting time of each customer in an M/M/C queuing model. In this regard, to enable decision makers to obtain useful results with enough knowledge on th...
